This is the Air Jordan V (5) Retro in black, metallic silver and fire red. Designer Tinker Hatfield and the “main man” Michael Jordan drew inspiration from the World War II P-40 “Warhawk” fighter jet, which was symbolic of “His Airness’” high-flying ability. The most notable detail of this inspiration was the shark teeth-like shapes on the midsoles. The shoes feature the now-popular Reflective 3M material on the tongue and introduced a lace lock to make tightening the shoes easier. Another new element introduced on this model was the use of clear rubber (gel) on the sole, which gave the shoes a new look and supplied MJ with more traction as he charged to the basket.
